Bacque was a French sculptor, born September 20,1874 in Vianne and died in December 1947 in Paris). His father was a nationally recognized cabinetmaker and he was in charge of fine furniture restoration. Daniel goes to Paris, enters Bourdelle's studio and exhibits at the Salon des Artistes franais from 1900. He won many prizes, including the gold medal in 1922. He becomes friends with the painter Raoul Dastrac, Gascon like him. Their workshops are nearby in the Rue du Pot de Fer, behind the Pantheon. Tragically, he dies as a result of cancer after destroying all of his remaining works; they would have been worth a fortune and a great loss to the art community.
